Bharatanatyam Grace

Hello! Happy Thanksgiving! I'm so excited for a break from school with my family and some extra time to paint! This is my latest painting for my AP Art portfolio (Advanced Placement Art class in school where for the exam I send in a portfolio of themed paintings). I expect to finish another piece over the break, so stay tuned for it!  This is my friend who is an amazing dancer who does tradititonal Bharatnatyam Indian dancing. I saw her Arangetram---a three hour solo dance honoring her progress in dancing, and this is a photo from that. I love the intricate jewelry and dress; it was such such fun to paint! I take commisions! You can find me at  originalartmyem@gmail.com

Celtic Harper

I'm taking AP Art this year in school, which means I am going to be sending a selection of pieces that share a theme to College Board to be judged. The theme I am exploring is "valuing the heritage of people important to me." And so, my first one is my little sister in a Swedish dress that you can check out on the Tri-County post, and this one is my other sistrer. Yes, I have a lot of those. Four, actually. But here is my creative, musical older sister who is very talented at the harp. Love, you Maggie! I promise I don't have favorite sisters :) Like my art? Want to commission some? Tri-County Pieces

Image
Hello! I have a few things to share---a few of my pieces made it into Tri-County this year, which is an art gallery/contest run by Wayne state. Here are the pieces that got in! This is a picture inspired by my Swedish heritage and is my little sister playing with a horse, of course. This is going to be one of my AP Art Portfolio pieces! It's called Swedish Girl.  This is called At Piece, and I will never forget seeing this dove perching on our balcony faning out her tail in the sun. I was lucky enough to get my camera out fast enough.  This was a Mother's Day gift I gave my mom after I she returned home from a trip up north when the northern lights could be seen in Michigan. This one was not accepted to the gallery, but I like it, so I thought I would include it.  Like my art? Have questions? Find me at originalartbyem@gmail.com
